My Culinary World

(Description – In the works!)

Hello world! March 27, 2008

Welcome to my culinary world! I love to cook. I really can’t tell you if the cooking process is therapeutic, or not. But it is definitely rewarding to see the delight on the faces of my guinea pigs (errr, i mean ….. my husband, friends and guests). My cooking style, best described, is a combination of traditional Maharashtrian food (specific to my state in India – Maharashtra),  popular foods that I ate back in India, and experimentation with Italian and Chinese food.

So before I embark on writing ‘laajawab’ (fantastic) recipes, I would like to give credit to

- my grandmother, who has taught me traditional Maharashtrian food

- my mother, who to date loves to experiment with all kinds of food, and believes that every item can be prepared at home (to control the nutrition content, usage of oil, flavor, etc)

- my husband, who loves to cook, shares the responsibility with me, is open to eating all kids of cuisines, and provides wonderful feedback on how recipes can be modified

- last but not least, my father, who again is a good cook and shares the responsibility with mum (you will see some of his mouth-watering recipes on this blog)

This blog is an effort to keep track of the recipes that I have experimented with, and most of all note down the recipes that I learn from back home in India. Usually I end up calling home, even when I am cooking the item for the n’th time. Many a times I modify recipes to use what I have at home (or what I think is more healthy, or convenient). Most times it works, sometimes it fires back. So again, this is an attempt to keep track of what to do and what not to do when following the recipe.

Folks, Welcome to My Culinary World!
